MK Indie Book Fair 2026

On Saturday 26 September, Middleton Hall transforms into a vibrant literary marketplace as the MK Indie Book Fair returns. This year, it’s bigger, bolder than ever and bursting with bookish creativity. Book lovers of every kind are invited to explore one of the UK’s most exciting celebrations of independent writing. 

This year’s fair brings together 100 independently published authors and small presses, showcasing the full spectrum of contemporary storytelling, from crime and mystery to fantasy, sci‑fi, memoir, poetry, children’s books, YA adventures, humour, travel writing, and much more. It’s your chance to meet the writers shaping the future of British indie publishing, discover new favourites, and take home gorgeous books you won’t find anywhere else.

Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy:

• Hear authors share short extracts from their latest work, MCed by Caz Tricks of Stony Radio’s Stony Sunrise Breakfast Show.

Main Stage Panels

Our evolving programme of talks dives into the heart of indie creativity. Expect lively discussions on:

• How small presses and self‑published authors are reshaping the UK book landscape

• Worldbuilding across fantasy, sci‑fi, horror, and speculative genres

Hosted by Donna Scott of The Slab Press and guest authors, editors, and indie publishers, these sessions offer insight, inspiration, and your chance to ask questions of these authors and creators.

Children’s Activity Zone

• Running from 11:00–16:00, the Children’s Area is packed with workshops, readings, and hands‑on creative fun. Led by children’s authors and supported by friendly volunteers, it’s a welcoming space for young storytellers to draw, imagine, listen, and play. Children must be accompanied by grown-ups and tickets can be booked from MK Indie Book Fair | MK Lit Fest 2026.*
