Black History Month (October) marked the perfect opportunity for centre:mk to celebrate Milton Keynes’ richly diverse community, with a free two-day exhibition showcasing art, culture, organisations, and businesses from across Milton Keynes’ black community.

The exhibition, in its second year at centre:mk, was a hub of activity with entertainment from Hip Hop artists ‘So Solid Crew’, performances from Adanta Dance Troupe and UNIKA dance events, as well as a specially created fashion show for the event.

The event organisers - CIC World Media Initiatives, and charities STaSS, African Diaspora Foundation and Making Good Better also brought together over 100 business exhibitors across the weekend.

Nana Oguntola, of World Media Initiatives said: “It is so important that black communities can be seen in prominent spaces. It ensures visibility of these communities, creates new partnerships and collaborations with members of the wider community and opens up far more opportunities…”

Across the weekend there were also a number of panel discussions covering the important issues of diversity and inclusivity, net zero, women in business and storytelling.
