London Fashion Week spring/summer 2020 has drawn to a close, giving us all lots of inspiration for our summer wardrobes. This year we had the privilege of attending the Temperley London show and we thought we’d inspire your spring/summer wardrobe with some of our favourite looks, from catwalk couture to street style: Get a fresh new wardrobe at centre:mk.

Temperley highlighted some of this season’s must have trends from tropical prints to cut out design features.

Forget traditional floral print, the new life of summer florals is tropical print in warm tones, to compliment the rest of your wardrobe. Think palm fronds and colourful exotic blooms, perfect for the transition from your winter warmers to light spring-wear. M&S, £45.

Rather than cropped tops exposing your midriff, this season sees a return of mesh. Working with the cut out trend, you can still feel covered but nevertheless, bang up to date. The beautiful Temperley London dress seen on the catwalk has been redesigned for Alice Temperley’s sister brand, Somerset, exclusive to John Lewis & Partners. Better yet, the design comes in a dress, £160 and a top, £99.

Frills are also a big trend for spring. Whether you want to go dramatic, like this Temperley London layered design, or minimalistic like the version from Somerset by Alice Temperley at centre:mk, £99. You can easily adapt this look to what you already have in your wardrobe!

We saw bell bottom flares and vibrant prints return last season, giving a nod to the 70s. This season the 70s influence is back and more wearable than ever before, thanks to streamlined suits and easy-to-wear midi dresses. ‘Street stylers’ are definitely a big fan of the seventies re-run, sporting oversized blazers in neutral colours and prints. You can get the look at Jigsaw, £59 or Primark, £15.

Now a key menswear trend this season is the perfect ‘goes-with-everything’ outerwear option, the Trench coat. With many adaptions of the wardrobe staple, these ‘street stylers’ have created a powerful smart casual look. Opt for the classic trench at River Island, £85. Or the modernised ‘shacket’ at Moss Bros, £99.95.

Finally, the colour palette of the summer is always bold and bright and that hasn’t changed for 2020. Neon is on everyone’s fashion minds from orange and yellow, to pink and green! Follow the seventies power suit trend if you dare with neon orange, Blazer, £50 and Trousers, £40.

Or make a statement with the perfect spring coat in neon yellow at Hobbs, £179.

Whilst we love the catwalk to call out this season’s fashion trends, often you only need to look to the streets of the capital for more fashion inspiration. Head down to centre:mk to pick up the street style looks of London Fashion Week S/S 20 and create a style that’s all your own.
