It’s official, the transitional season is upon us as we say our goodbyes to summer (soon)! That’s not to say the British weather won’t pleasantly surprise us, but it’s now time to put our off-shoulder tops and thin floaty dresses to the back of our closets and invest in some transitional pieces that will take us from summer to fall and beyond!
If you’ve read my previous post on investment pieces for Spring in collaboration with centre:mk (they have the best timeless items to invest in!), I now thought it’d be a great idea to talk about investment accessories for fall. Just like your classic trench will always be in style, there are loads of accessories such as sunglasses, hats, bags and more you can take with you season after season. Plus, I love styling up simple outfits with bold accessories and having a bit of fun with layering my fall looks! So here are my top accessories to invest in this season:
The Black Mini Backpack
Yes, the backpack has really come into style for the millennial generation, taking inspiration from Louis Vuitton and other high-end designers – but this accessory isn’t only trendy, it’s timeless! The classic black backpack is a go-to for almost any outfit (this one is from River Island available at centre:mk) – you can wear it with casual black jeans and a white tee for something simple, a blazer and straight leg denim for workwear, a printed midi dress and even sportswear. The backpack is perfect for dressing down a look and giving it that bit of retro edge!
The Baker Boy Hat
I’m sure by now you all own or at least know of the baker boy hat! It has become such a staple come Fall/Winter, that it comes in countless of fabrics and textures, and there are so many outfit options you can style it up with! I love a black baker boy for a casual look, pairing it with a blazer, a tank top or bodysuit and a faux leather skirt for some edge (as I wore this one from River Island at centre:mk here) for a Parisian chic look, but also with any jean or dress. It’s such a versatile item to have it your closet!
Oversized Black Shades
Another key investment accessory are black sunglasses: you can never go wrong with a pair of black (or even brown) sunglasses to vamp up a simple look – but try oversized frames to bring more attitude to your look. I promise, you’ll feel and look like the coolest girl on the block!
The Plaid Scarf
Plaid has been around for ages – yes, Burberry iconised the popular check on their trench coats and scarves, but all shades of plaid is a classic come the fall/winter season. I just love this check scarf from River Island – it’s the perfect way to accessorise a basic outfit as it adds texture with the print, like how I styled it here!
I hope you liked this series on Investment Fashion and that it gave you some ideas of what you can buy to wear over the coming seasons!
