This past weekend saw the return of Style Fest to centre:mk and after hearing (and seeing all over social media) about last season’s event, I was super excited to be invited to be a part of the Autumn/Winter event!
I’m a body positivity and plus size fashion influencer, so when I was brought on board to do a talk all about body confidence through fashion, I couldn’t wait to get started. I hopped up from London - just 30 minutes by train - and got ready for a weekend filled with fashion shows, makeup demonstrations and interesting talks! It was my first trip to centre:mk and it won’t be my last. The centre itself is filled with so many brands, including Yours and Marks and Spencer who stock plus size items in store which made me very happy. I even did a spot of shopping at Yours in between fashion shows - it would’ve been rude not to!
The fashion shows were incredible - filled with the latest trends shown on some really energetic models who danced and twirled around the giant platform. It really helped to set the positive, upbeat tone for the whole weekend! In between each fashion show was a talk or demonstration, and if you brought your gym gear, you could try a taster session of hot yoga too. There really was something for everyone.
I did my talk on body confidence through fashion on both the Saturday and the Sunday to a whole crowd of shoppers who had come along to listen. It was so wonderful to talk about some inspirational tips on how to feel confident in the skin you’re in whilst showcasing some key trends on my two gorgeous plus size models that joined me on stage. It made it even better that the items were all available to buy there and then in the centre!
After my talk, I went and got some photos done with the girls at the Snaparazzi booth with HeartFM. I felt like I was having a proper celebrity moment with all those cameras pointed at me - I even threw some classic fashion poses for my photos! Once I was done pulling some shapes for the camera, I went to go and grab some lunch at one of the many food places in the centre to refuel for the afternoon. I’m so impressed with everything that was on offer, it was almost a little too difficult to choose!
I also managed to catch the Charlotte Tilbury makeup demonstration on the inspiration stage too. They brought super blogger Becky from TalkBeckyTalk up on stage and gave her a Hollywood glamour makeover that looked so great! The Charlotte Tilbury team really know their lipstick shades, and chose a really lovely dark shade for Becky that made her whole look pop.
To round everything off, the whole weekend was presented by one of my favourite presenters, AJ Odudu. Her upbeat presenting, funny one liners and wealth of knowledge about all of the items on show tied everything together so nicely. She’s such a great presenter and she looked amazing on both days too, wearing clothes that you can buy from the brands in the centre!
The whole weekend was just brilliant - I can’t wait to come back to centre:mk and do a spot of shopping with my mates and hopefully, be back with another one of my talks next season! Where can I sign up again?!
