Denim is always the “go to” staple in everyone’s wardrobe. The most timeless fabric of all, it simply never goes out of fashion. Hang on, that’s not exactly true. Denim might always be there, but the shape, style, cut, colour and how you wear it can be the difference between a fashion hurrah and a fashion faux pas! What’s even more complicated is that shapes and styles keep coming back. Here’s our guide to this season’s freshest looks and how to wear them.
Dungarees
Yes, they are back! But there are ways you can transform dungarees into the most stylish of outfits and avoid looking like a children’s TV presenter. Firstly, keep them baggy. Make sure they flow casually rather than cling anywhere. Keep colours clean. Plain white shirts, t shirts and trainers can make dungarees very cool. Short dungarees or long work equally well, just make sure you wear accessories with panache. A jumper casually tied around the shoulders or bucket hat adds some fun to the look.

White Denim Jeans
So, a few very stylish celebrities, supermodels and the general fashion royalty have been spotted wearing white denim this season. Whether a classic white denim jacket or jeans, you can find something to tick this trend whatever your personal style. If you like a fresh summery look, then you can pair cropped or distressed white skinnies with a colourful top for a casual vibe, great with sandals or flats. If you like a more tailored silhouette, opt for the boot cut option (yes, they’re back) with boho accessories and a chunky heel.
Double Denim
The great thing about double denim is that the pieces can be split and worn separately with other items in your summer wardrobe which makes this trend versatile and a good investment too. This season the double denim takes on a more tailored edge and Bermuda shorts are back. The perfect denim jacket and Bermuda short combo looks great in a more bleached wash and can be dressed up with heels and a structured bag.

Denim dresses
A denim dress is a fashion staple and this season the hemlines are either down or up, not in between. The midi dress that we have seen in the past few seasons makes way for a longer, more fitted denim dress, that when worn in a dark wash looks stylish and works wonderfully for the evenings or a more formal occasion. At the other end of the spectrum, the denim mini dress makes it’s entrance. The thigh skimming, smock style is very on trend this season, with a truly retro feel. If a classic shirt dress is more your style, there is plenty of choice. Easy to wear, casual and cool for summer, the shirt dress will be a firm favourite which will still look good for seasons to come.
